According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), real estate sales in Turkey rose by 5.1% in March 2025 compared to the same month last year, reaching 110,795 residential units sold across the country.
Istanbul led the market with 19,820 units, followed by Ankara with 10,203, and Izmir with 7,513 units. The cities with the fewest transactions were Ardahan (28), Bayburt (33), and Tunceli (63).
During the first quarter of the year (January – March), overall property sales increased by 20.1%, totaling 335,786 units.
Mortgaged property sales also showed strong performance, jumping 41.5% in March and comprising 16.4% of total transactions.
First-time property sales saw a 3.2% decline in March but increased by 13.2% over the quarter, reaching 99,876 units.
Resale property sales rose by 9.1%, accounting for 69.9% of March's overall transactions.
However, property purchases by foreigners dropped by 11.5%, with 1,574 units sold. The top three cities for foreign buyers were:
Istanbul: 635 units
Antalya: 496 units
Mersin: 141 units
