Turkey is set to implement a progressive billing system for natural gas consumption, based on climate conditions and the average usage in each city. This step aims to ensure fairer pricing and ease the burden on residents in colder regions—making it an appealing change for investors seeking affordable living costs and energy-efficient real estate opportunities.
According to Ali Rıza Öner, head of the Waste Management and Energy Production Association (TAYED), colder provinces like Erzurum, Kars, and Ardahan will receive extra gas subsidies, while warmer cities like Adana, Antalya, and Mersin will pay standard market rates.
As per the data from the Natural Gas Distributors Union of Turkey (GAZBİR), over 59% of Turkish households rely on natural gas for heating, cooking, and hot water, underscoring the significance of this policy for investors exploring property in energy-conscious areas.
