Sabiha Gökçen International Airport in Istanbul had an exceptional year in 2024, achieving record-breaking numbers in passenger and cargo traffic. This reflects Turkey's remarkable infrastructure development and its growing role as an international aviation hub.
According to statements by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, reported by "Turkey Alaan," the airport welcomed over 41 million passengers this year, with 241,536 flights conducted. The newly operational second runway, completing its first year in service, significantly contributed to this success by enhancing the airport's capacity to accommodate wide-body aircraft and increasing its overall flight capacity.
The minister also highlighted a 6% increase in domestic flights and a 15% rise in international flights, making the airport a key attraction for tourists and investors worldwide. Improvements in surrounding roads and logistical services have further elevated the airport's service quality.
These developments showcase Istanbul's potential as a prime investment and tourism destination, with Sabiha Gökçen Airport serving as Turkey's gateway to the world, offering new opportunities for Arab investors to benefit from this growth.
