Located in the Tatvan district of Bitlis province, Nemrut Crater Lakes are fast becoming a favorite destination for campers, nature lovers, and photographers alike, thanks to their breathtaking landscapes and unique biodiversity.
One lake showcases a deep volcanic blue, while the other reflects a vivid green hue from surrounding algae and minerals, creating a spectacular natural contrast that captivates visitors year-round.
The region also features a glacial cave and a steam chimney, and is home to rare bird species, bears, and endemic plants, making it a hotspot for eco-tourism and environmental investment.
Nemrut Lakes previously received the “European Destinations of Excellence” award and attract thousands of local and international visitors annually, offering a serene escape at 2,250 meters above sea level.
Turkey is actively working to register the site under UNESCO’s Global Geopark Network, aiming to elevate the region’s profile as a unique natural tourism investment opportunity.
