In a strategic move reinforcing Istanbul Airport’s position as a global aviation hub, Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that starting Thursday, April 17 at 10:00 AM, the airport will implement the “Simultaneous Independent Triple Runway Operations” system.
This advanced system enables three aircraft to land and three to take off at the same time, significantly boosting the airport’s capacity, speed, and operational efficiency.
Uraloğlu noted that Türkiye will be the first country in Europe to implement this cutting-edge system, which is currently in use only in the United States, highlighting the technological advancement of the Turkish aviation sector.
Preparations began in late 2022, with support from international partners like EUROCONTROL and Turkish Airlines. Updates included the redesign of the airspace, upgrades to air traffic monitoring systems, and intensive training for air traffic controllers.
The minister emphasized that this development will further cement Istanbul Airport’s status as Europe’s busiest, with EUROCONTROL’s report showing an average of 1,326 daily flights between March 17–23.
This initiative further demonstrates how Türkiye’s modern transport infrastructure continues to enhance its appeal to real estate investors, particularly in Istanbul, by providing a more accessible and efficient environment.
