According to a recent report by the Istanbul Planning Agency, the cost of living for a family of four exceeded 87,000 Turkish Liras in March 2025—nearly four times the minimum wage, which currently stands at 22,104.67 TRY.
The report highlights a monthly increase of 2.032 TRY (2.38%) and a year-on-year surge of 51.95% compared to March 2024, reflecting growing economic pressure on households, especially regarding the rising prices of basic goods and services.
Among the most affected items were baby diapers, which saw a staggering 55.88% annual increase, heavily impacting families with young children.
The agency noted that families in Istanbul are under growing strain, as they struggle to meet the increasing cost of daily necessities.
